Acadiana Therapeutic Riding Organization's mission is to increase strength, mobility, emotional health, and overall quality of life for its riders.
Our goals were to increase engagement from potential volunteers and donors, while using the current site platform to keep costs low.
I stepped into the role of UX/UI designer and social media strategist, transforming the organization’s online presence. With a revitalized website, redesigned logos, and an engaging social media strategy, ATRO propelled their Facebook followers past the 1,000 follower milestone.
One of the challenges being faced by the organization was lack of volunteers and steady donations. Many of the ATRO horses have retired from other 'jobs' and need additional care, so donations and fund-raising are vital.
Working within the constraints of the current site builder, I redesigned the site with the intention of creating an emotional connection with the riders, horses, and cause, and providing more information on the site so that the most common questions could be answered without calling ATRO's volunteer organizer.
I took new photos so that the ATRO horses could be featured on the website, and focused on capturing moments that displayed the impact that these special horses have on peoples' lives.
ATRO hadn't had a logo for several years. The last one that the organization lead really liked was on an old letterhead. I created a new logo based on a photo of the printed logo.
The new logo was used on the site and promotional materials, including labels for custom coffee blends that a local coffee shop created for one of ATRO's annual fund-raising events.
I looked into various donation platforms, especially those being successfully used by local animal shelters, and proposed suggestions for platforms that could support both one-time and recurring donations.
The donation platforms have undergone changes since then, and our final solution ended up being to link ATRO's PayPal account to the site and across its social media accounts.
ATRO can now pull in a steady stream of income throughout the year, rather than relying on one large annual event to generate funds.

I worked alongside one of the lead volunteers to create a social media posting schedule and content plan.
ATRO's social media accounts became much more active, with posts occurring on a regular basis and gaining more engagement from followers.
